GALVANISED STEEL TANKS
For its metal tank production and installation activity, FM TANK opted for galvanised steel because of the many advantages that such material offers.
Indeed, storage tanks, and especially water tanks, need to be durable over time. Galvanised steel provides corrosion resistance in moderate to medium aggressive environments.
The widespread use of this type of steel, in particular in the construction industry, has helped stabilise the price at low levels, making it possible to manufacture galvanised steel tanks at cost effective prices.
Durability, flexibility of use and competitive pricing make it the ideal candidate for water storage tank production.
All our galvanised steels can be painted. Whether for purely aesthetic reasons (semi-camouflage in a natural environment, blending in with an existing building) or for advertising (graphic charter), powder coating adds additional protection to the steel plates we produce, thus extending their protection.
Focus on galvanisation
Galvanisation consists in immersing the parts to be protected in a bath of molten zinc (450°).
Once bonded to the steel, the zinc creates a protective physical and cathodic coating, making the assembly resistant to frictional wear and moderate impacts.
The bolted fastening system uses screws and nuts that are also galvanised so that the entire structure is protected from external aggression.
The steel can also be protected even further, especially from aggressive external conditions (salt-laden coastal areas, chemical environments, etc.) by galvanising the steel using zinc enriched with aluminium and magnesium.
Steel thus coated with an even stronger alloy is called Magnelis.
Our sales department may propose it if your tanks are for use in hostile environments.
Galvanised steel is used for all types of tanks:
Storage of potable water, demineralised water, raw water or process water
Fire-fighting water tanks
Sludge treatment tanks, tailings ponds.
